Dr. David K. Lunt

Dr. David Lunt is assistant director for Texas AgriLife Research. He assumed his current position on September 2, 2008. Lunt previously served as professor and superintendent of the 6,372-acre AgriLife Research McGregor Center and associate head of operations for the department of animal science at Texas A&M University.

As assistant director, Lunt will oversee agency planning, state and federal reporting, and agency internal grant programs that include cropping systems, beef improvement, bioenergy, cotton, fire ants, other areas and responsibilities.

Lunt has been active in the commercialization of intellectual property developed by the animal science department at Texas A&M, particularly bovine genomics. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in animal science from Brigham Young University and a doctorate in meat science and muscle biology from Texas A&M. Lunt also has a master’s in business administration from the University of Texas.
